Gooo Planet!

EARTH!
FIRE!
WIND!
WATER!
HEART!

By your powers combined, I am Captain Planet!

Well...not really...I just thought that'd be a cool way to open this entry up

  • Wild Arms is in development for the PS3

  • Final Fantasy XIII & Versus XIII won't be released until Q1 2009

Dun Dun Dun....

And what do I have for you guys & gals today...

  • The "PS3 Slim" is in the works which will be unveiled in 2010 and be availble for purchase during the holiday season of 2010

  • Sony will drop the price of the 40gb to $299 this holiday season.

  • The 80gb is officially discontinued

  • A new sku with a bigger hard drive (and backwards compatibility) packaged with the Dualshock 3 will be available for $399 this holiday season

  • Insomniac is currently developing (has been to be more precise) there next Ratchet & Clank game for the PS3 which will be released in 2009. The game will pick up where the first one left off. I don't have any specifics on the game *yet* just the basics.

  • LittleBigPlanet developed by Media Molecule is currently slated for a 2008 release. An exact date hasn't officially been given, however according to word going around the office there, we won't see the game until October the earliest (Retailers currently have the game listed for September)

  • Haze which is now set at a May release will be....delayed....once again, I know I know shocking news isn't it? Specifics weren't given on a new release date, but don't expect to be injecting yourself and overdosing Mantel soldiers with nectar in May

  • In response to "Skater Boy's" post about Kingdom Hearts 3 being exclusive to the Wii, that's not 100% correct. The Wii will get an exclusive Kingdom Hearts game, however, it's not the necessarily "KH 3" that the PS3 will be getting (Think of it as a "spin off", similar to what the PSP & NDS are getting) Now with that aside and clarified, the next big question is, going to be "Will the next Kingdom Hearts game be a PS3 exclusive?" well at this point it is exclusive to the PS3. However if for some reason Final Fantasy sales flop on the PS3, and Infinite Undiscovery (SE's 360 exclusive) does great in sales then expect the next KH to appear on the 360 as well. So just like Zone of the Enders, the exclusivity will depend on the sales of a previous title released on the PS3 (In ZoE case - MGS 4)

Aaaaand that's it for now, I have a meeting I must attend to now sooo bon voyage!

Get Stoked! It's PSP 2 hitting the slopes!

Ok so some of you are wondering about the next PSP installment, the "PSP 2" so here's some basic features I was able to dig up from my good friends at Sony

  • 2 Analog Sticks

  • Rumble Enabled (Yes that's right, just imagine a Dualshock controller...except PSP form?)

  • Graphics will be up to par with PS2

  • It will launch around the time of the PS4 (So we won't see it for quite some time, but they'll most likely unveil it when they unveil the PS4 which will be in 2010...oops was I supposed to mention PS4)

  • The current design is "fatter"/bulkier (which ever term you wish to you) however they plan on "shrinking" it in size to try and match the original PSP size.

  • Current price planning for it is $249 ($50 more then PSP launch price, so also expect a PSP price drop)

  • I wasn't able to get any real specific information on the disc format used, but what I was able to get was that it's NOT the same UMD format used in current PSPs but it is a UMD like format (Since "older" UMDs will have to be able to fit in there to offer B/C for PSP1 games) Think of it as... "Next Gen UMD"

  • Pretty much all other basic PSP functions (Memory Stick Duo, Wireless, TV Out)

I believe I covered it all...if I missed anything I'll be sure to update my blog!

**Update1**

  • Oh yea they also have another prototype model with motion control inside....it's not definite whether motion control will make its way into the final product or not.

**Update2**

  • Built in microphone is also in the other model which they're testing out as well, and once again it's not definite if the built in mic will make its way into the final product.

  • In regards to motion sensing & built in mic, at a later date once "most" testing is done with both features, I should have a definite answer on if we'll be seeing them in the final product, so stay tuned at later date

Ammah Gawd

  • God of War 3 will launch late in 2009 during the Holiday Season

  • Final Fantasy 14 will be a PS3 Exclusive

  • We'll receive a date for the launch of Dualshock 3 in North America during GDC

  • Sony is planning on dropping the 40gb down to $299 this holiday season

  • The exclusivity of the next Zone of the Enders game will be determined on Metal Gear Solid 4 sales
